DAFT PUNK - DOIN’ IT RIGHT (NIGHT TIME FRIENDS REMIX)
Let’s see, what can we say about the super secretive downtown DJ duo Night Time Friends? Well, they’re a pair of dudes who have been DJing for over a dozen years and recently they started making original jams. They remixed a Diamond Rings track and they currently have a track called “Get It In” in a Sony campaign. We guess at this point they’re more secretive than Daft Punk, whose track “Doin’ It Right” they just remixed. Yeah, we’re premiering this remix, it’s radical, and it’s available for download now! Check out the rest of the NTF’s jams HERE and follow them on twitter HERE and HERE.

BOOKMARC X KRINK

The ever collaboratively successful Marc Jacobs—aka “MJ”—teams up with artist and KRINK founder Craig Costello aka—“KR”—to present a rad little offering of assorted paint markers. If you didn’t already know, Jacobs and Costello experienced their rise to cult following in fashion and art respectively in the early ’90s. Being part of the creative scene downtown, this partnership makes sense, and it’s actually pretty cool to see these two creative join forces. The result is a variety of KRINK items with Bookmarc re-branding available in store and HERE for a limited time.

LAST HEIR - CLOSURE

When we asked Last Heir how they came together they simply responded, “We met from a mutual love of not attending classes and music via University in Brighton.” Only four and a half months old the trio has already filmed a video for the track entitled “Closure” and we’ve got the exclusive premiere. The guys are fans of bands like Yuck, Wavves, Metz, and the La’s, we also hear a reminiscent fuzz of one our favorite young ’90s bands Silverchair. The style of this video—with the strobe, flannel, and DIY approach definitely gives off a Bleach-era Nirvana vibe. We’re stoked on these dudes and the only problem we have is that at the moment not much of their music is available. But then again what can you expect at four months? We did find this other song called “Way Teen” which has a real Pixies feel. Anyway, we’ll be following up with these guys and keep you in the loop with new music and visuals from them.

SUEDE HI BY VISION STREET WEAR

Anyone who lived through the ’80s and ’90s, ever bought a 411 Video Mag on VHS, or saw The Wizard’ probably remembers the super iconic Vision Street Wear logo. The company was actually started in 1976 and gained early skate fame via sponsored skaters like Mark Gonzales and iconic skate decks like the “PsychoStick”. One of the brands most successful products, the Suede Hi, is back on the street, made exactly as it was in the early days, which is rare. The recognizable shell toe and ollie pad are just as we remember them, with vulcanized construction and the heel hit logo. We predict a huge return to the street for these kicks, which are once again available red, gray, and black. View the full collection and purchase these OGs HERE.

JEANS BY NUDIE

If you’re like us and practically live in your jeans, we know the attachment that goes along with a pair of nicely broken-in denim.  They become like a child of yours and finding a new pair just as good is near impossible, not to mention hardly worth the time.  Nudie Jeans Co. doesn’t want to hear all that though, and frankly, neither do we.  Especially when they’re pushing the envelope and coming to the table with the Thin Finn Organic Icon Green that’s available exclusively at Barneys.  They’re made of 11 oz. organic Turkish denim that have been expertly bleached down and over-dyed to infuse each pair with a nice pop of color.  It’s a perfect summertime jean so buy yours here…just don’t get mad at us when they become your new favorite pair.

MOVIE REVIEW : THE GREAT GATSBY

When we were offered a sneak preview of one of the most anticipated movies of 2013, we didn’t ask when or where the viewing was to take place, the answer was indubitably YES! Yes we realize that fact that we didn’t mention the fact that said movie is in fact, The Great Gatsby, but do we need to? Anyway, the day arrived and we got in the car with our better half, NYLON of course, to the town of Manhasset in Long Island, coincidentally-or maybe not so much-where parts of the movie were filmed. We arrived just in time to hear the director, Baz Luhrmann, give a little introduction—what a rad dude that guy is. We don’t want to give anything away, but the movie began and from the minute it started to the last scene it was chock full of action, color, music…it’s just larger than any other movie. It’s like a roller coaster ride, for real. Did you see the Romeo and Juliet movie Luhrmann did in the ’90s? Well that was only his second movie and if you can imagine that film but visually twice as packed with, well, everything, that’s what this movie is like. Also, we have a confession to make: We never read the book, but you know what? It might be better that way because the cast of this movie really fulfill anything you need from a character. It feels like a million bucks and it moves so fast it could last another 45 minutes and we wouldn’t mind. It’s tough to write about because there’s so much we wanna say, but we’ll just tell you this: This movie is the biggest movie of 2013, you must see it in the theater because a small screen will never do it justice, and this is for sure an instant classic. Oh, yeah, and it’s out today. We’ll see you in the popcorn line (yes we’re going to see it a couple more times).

LIGHTWEIGHT MMQ JACKET BY PUMA

When we started looking through Puma’s new MMQ collection the first thing we thought was, “Whoah, these dudes turned it up!” Thesecond though we had was, “What does the MMQ stand for?” The answer; Macht’s Mit Qualität which is German for With Power Quality. Okay, so our favorite piece from the MMQ collection is this jacket, available in Puma’s own street camo. Constructed with ripstop nylon, then entirely seam sealed and water repellent coated, this jacket is made for spring showers (yeah we’ve been getting a lot of rain in New York). You can check out a whole video lookbook for the MMQ collection HERE or just pick up our personal favorite piece HERE

SHAKE JUNT X STANCE SOCKS

These socks are an ill culmination of about four different things we fully back. First of all, tie-dye anything is rad with us from head to toe. Second, green and yellow, Oakland A’s team colors, are some our favorite. Third, Stance one of our go-to sock-makers, in part because it always brings quality to the table. Last but not least, the notorious Shake Junt crew, known for wreaking havoc and shredding the most. This collaboration is probably our favorite so far. When quality and style come together it’s a beautiful thing people. These are limited, so go ahead and grab ‘em HERE.

THURSTON BY VON ZIPPER

Did you know the first pair of sunglasses were sold on the boardwalk in Atlantic City, New Jersey, in 1929? Yep, New Jersey’s got it going on y’all. You know where else has it going on? Orange County. That’s where Von Zipper was born back in 1999 and since then they’ve been making sunnies, shades, hater blockers, whatever you want to call ‘em. Their new Thurston glasses are made of nylon and polycarbonate, so they’re ultra light. They have impact-resistant lenses and they come with either black gloss, ice, or tortoise frames.  Grab a pair HERE and live it up like you’re on the Atlantic City boardwalk in 1929.
